Meet the Board Members

Shelby Connelly Shelby Connelly Fisher, board president, has been practicing acupuncture in the North Country for almost seven years. She has a private practice and also treats patients at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center and at the St. Lawrence County Addiction Treatment Center, both in Ogdensburg.

Pat Glover Pat Glover, treasurer of the board, is a long time resident of Canton. She completed her Certified Financial Planning studies through the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. Prior to becoming a financial counselor, she worked as an arts administrator with Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley and the Community Performance Series.
Art PalmerArt Palmer, board secretary, is a native of Long Island. He has taught high-school English at Brasher Falls for the past twenty-one years.  He first practiced yoga with Betsy Bommer in the early nineties, and works with Rebecca Rivers now.  He's looking forward to retiring, when he can indulge himself in his love of music and books...and whatever else may come his way.
Bruce KennaBruce Kenna has been a resident of the North Country since 1983.  He teaches psychology, has worked in mental health and has been an individual, child and family counselor for nearly 30 years.   He is the father of a daughter Ashley who practices counseling in the Capital District.  Bruce has been doing yoga on and off for many years and found it beneficial to physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.  He believes the Yoga Loft and its teachers to be an important resource to the community and would like more people to experience it for themselves.

Ruth Kreuzer Ruth Kreuzer, vice president, is enjoying her retirement from St. Lawrence University where she taught Russian and courses on Russian literature and culture. She now offers workshops and courses for SOAR, a lifelong learning group sponsored by SUNY Potsdam. Ruth enjoys using her technical skills to create web sites and photo projects. She loves cats, digital photography, traveling, and family vacations with her husband, Jerry, and her two grown sons, Rob and Jon. Ruth has been an avid student of Yoga at the Yoga Loft for many years.

Patrice LeClercPatrice LeClerc teaches Sociology at St. Lawrence University. She has long been interested in health issues, particularly for women, and teaches several courses with health and medicine as the theme. Patrice also writes and teaches about social movements and public policies. In spare (?) times she enjoys hiking and canoeing. Yoga classes and practice keep her sane and de-stressed, as do walks and runs with her golden retriever, Carly.
Sarah Scafidi-McGuire serves on the Board and also teaches several classes at the Yoga Loft, including Ashtanga/Vinyasa Yoga, Yoga for kids, and Yoga in the Park. Sarah came to the North Country originally in 1996, and returned 'for good' in 2004. She now lives with her family in an energy efficient home in rural Canton. She spends most days with her sons and enjoys the outdoors, especially to rock and ice climb.
