Jessica (Jessie) Madden is a new arrival in Canton, having moved up north to join the teaching faculty at SLU as a Visiting Lecturer in Dance. Most recently, Jessie has been living in Iowa, where she completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance (Choreography) at The University of Iowa. While at Iowa, Jessie also completed her 200-hour Hatha Yoga Certification, in a collaborative training program between the University and The Yoga Connection (AZ). Originally from Frederick, Maryland, Jessie received a B.A. in Dance and B.S. in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University in 2012.  Upon graduation, Jessie moved to Chicago, where she worked for five years as a Teaching Artist for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago in their Education, Youth, Community, and Adaptive Dance Programs. From 2017-2018, Jessie also had the privilege to expand her teaching to include Lookingglass Theatre and Chicago Ballet Arts.

Jessie is passionate about caring for the whole of a person – body, mind, and spirit – and sees both yoga and dance as opportunities for health, healing, joy, and wellness. She is excited to be joining The Yoga Loft as a Hatha Yoga instructor, as well as offering new dance/movement classes for children.
