"Ayurveda 101" with Alison Brant, [email protected], 315-386-3040
Saturday March 24, 10:30am-12:30pm
Use 2 class card blocks or $20 drop-in
Ayurveda teaches that proper care and nourishment of the body, mind, and spirit is necessary for one to be truly healthy and happy. Learn the basic principles of Ayurveda and identify your unique constitutional make up within the Ayurvedic paradigm. Discover new ways to approach everyday lifestyle choices regarding exercise, diet, and mental health. This workshop will cover the Doshas, the Gunas, and a bit of history of this ancient healing science and its relationship to Yoga. The workshop will be interspersed with exercises including meditation, breathing, and movement. Participants are encouraged to where comfortable clothing. Early sign up recommended.
“What I find so refreshing about the Ayurvedic approach to health is the lack of judgment. There is no identifying what is “good or bad” for me, thus leading to my feeling “good or bad” about myself. It’s about finding balance, and – when life happens - having the tools to bring balance back into my whole being through the right kind of exercise, a proper seasonal diet, and stress management.” - Alison

"Introduction to Iyengar Yoga" with Kelly and Liz
Saturday, April 14, 10:30am – 12:30pm
Cost: 2 blocks on your class card or $30 drop-in
To register, email Liz [email protected]. Advanced registration appreciated but not required.
In Iyengar Yoga, we pay close attention to anatomical details and the alignment of each posture—it’s a practice of precision. Poses are held for long periods and modified with props. This method is motivated by the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to strive for complete alignment, and the focus is on making yoga accessible to every age and every body. In this workshop we will introduce the alignment principles of Iyengar Yoga, with a focus on proper alignment in Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog). We’ll then practice Salamba Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand) the “mother of asanas" in the Iyengar approach, again using lots of props to protect the body and focus on proper alignment. We’ll close with Pranayama (breathing exercises) and a restful Savasana (deep relaxation)

"Stress Relief using EFT Tapping" with Emma Brackett
[email protected], 315-854-2045
Saturday April 28, 10:30am-12noon
Use 2 blocks on class card or $30 drop-in
In this workshop, participants will learn and practice Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping) to reduce stress, anxiety, and improve overall wellness. EFT is a holistic mind/body self-help method that can be used to uncover and heal distressing thoughts, feelings and events. It involves a process of combining mindful affirmations and tapping on several acupuncture meridian end points on the face and upper body.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a holistic body/mind self-help method – a process of mindful and intentional tapping (gently, with fingertips) on several acupuncture meridian end-points on the face and upper body. An EFT intervention utilizes the same pathways/channels found in traditional Chinese energy medicine.
EFT or “tapping” is easy to learn and flexible enough to be used by anyone. It can allow us to transform the way we respond to uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and troubling memories (with pain, tension, stress…). Whether it’s used alone or together with an experienced practitioner, EFT can bring surprising (and lasting) relief, change the energy we bring to any life situation, and so much more. As we explore EFT for ourselves, we can become more aware of how our thoughts, beliefs and emotions affect us physiologically. (http://www.aamet.org/ 2016)
